AFBEA offers Fire & Life Safety Educator courses throughout the State of Arizona, several times a year. These courses comply with the NFPA 1030 Standard and currently also meet the criteria of the Arizona Center for Fire Service Excellence (AzCFSE) for Certificates of Completion. The AzCFSE is responsible for the day-to-day administration of Arizona Fire Service training and Fire Service certification processes.
Course Description: This course is designed for the individual who coordinates and delivers community fire and risk prevention programs that intend to eliminate or mitigate situations that endanger lives, property, and the environment. The Fire and Life Safety Educator I course is designed to satisfy the job performance requirements (JPRs) of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1035 Chapter 4 .

Course Description: This course is a continuation of Fire and Life Safety I designed to provide the public educator with the knowledge and skills needed to successfully perform as a fire and life safety educator manager as addressed in NFPA 1035. The Fire and Life Safety Educator II course is designed to satisfy the job performance requirements (JPRs) of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1035 Chapter 4 .

Course Description: The Fire and Life Safety Program Manager creates, administers, and evaluates educational programs and information. In addition, the Program Manager develops support for Community Risk Reduction programs, creates an awareness of those programs within the organization and their community, and creates training programs for less experienced members of the organization.
Pre-requisites: include completion of FLSE I and II courses.

Course Description: "Youth Firesetting Intervention Specialist" is a 2-day course based on the requirements of National Fire Protection Association 1030, Standard for Professional qualifications for Fire Prevention Program Positions.
This course focuses on how identification, intake, screening, disposition and follow-up are used to mitigate youth firesetting behavior. Course content includes understanding the motivations behind youth firesetting and how the impact of adverse childhood experiences and behavioral/mental health changes can influence firesetting behaviors. This course is for the practitioner who provides services at the program delivery level.

Course Description: The two-day Youth Firesetting Interviewing and Educational Intervention Strategies course provides students with the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform an interview/screening and develop an educational intervention program for identified youth exhibiting fire misuse behaviors. The course addresses how to establish and implement these strategies to meet the needs of these youths and their families.
Participants will learn how to interview youth who have engaged in high-risk behaviors such as youth firesetting (YFS) or experimentation with incendiary/explosive devices. Participants will also learn how to provide education intervention options for simple and complex youth firesetting situations.
Prerequisites: Incident Command System (ICS)-100-level and IC-200-level training. Preferred courses are Q0462 and Q0463, available through NFA online. Chief's signature attest that the applicant has completed the required training.
Course Description: This 2-day course based on the requirements of National Fire Protection Association 1035, Standard on Fire and Life Safety Educator, Public Information Officer, Youth Firesetter Intervention Specialist and Youth Firesetter Program Manager Professional Qualifications pertaining to the youth firesetting program manager.
It empowers students with knowledge on how to develop, enhance or rejuvenate a youth firesetting prevention and intervention program. This course is designed for the person who is responsible or will be responsible for leading a youth firesetting prevention and intervention program. Students evaluate the existing state of their current youth firesetting program, develop a vision for moving forward, construct an action plan and deliver a persuasive speech to decision-makers for advancing the program.
Prerequisites: ICS-100-level (Q0462) and ICS-100-level (Q0463) training, available through NFA Online. Chief's signature attests that the applicant has completed this required training.
Accepted students are required to complete the following, prior to attending this course: There is an extensive, graded pre-course assignment that prepares students for engaging in the subject matter and working with firesetting youth.
