It will provide new and creative techniques and approaches to enhancing your Risk Reduction efforts. This training was the first of its kind ever offered nationwide and continues to be a premier learning opportunity for Educational Characterization.

General Session Speakers:
We are proud to bring Stephanie Siete, Public Information Officer for Community Bridges, to the conference. Stephanie has been providing drug prevention and education services for more than 15 years, focusing on targeted messages to youth, parents, teachers and administrators in school districts and colleges, locally and nationally. Stephanie is the 2016 recipient of the FBI Phoenix Division’s Director’s Community Leadership Award.
She will address drug trends in Arizona and nationally. You will be able to identify the new forms marijuana, learn about the latest opioid use trends (fentanyl, pink, heroin, etc.) and understand the risks associated with vaping, modding and juuling.
Brenda Marshall has been performing as “Flower the Clown” since 1981. She was the first woman president of Clowns of America International, and is a life member of Clowns of America International, the Texas Clown Association and the local clown alley, Cowtown Clowns, Alley #135.
Brenda has performed in schools, hospitals, nursing homes, orphanages, churches and on street corners all over the world. Her most recent trip was to Costa Rica in January of 2017.
She was part of the first People to People clown delegation, traveling with seventeen other clowns to Eastern Europe. She was chosen to lead the first People to People delegation of clowns to visit China.
She has taught workshops on clowning and clown-related activities at festivals and conferences from Fort Worth, Texas to Singapore. And she continues to attend clown school as a student when the opportunity arises.

In the early morning hours of January 19, 2000, the lives of thousands or maybe even millions were changed as a result of a great tragedy. On the campus of Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey, while most of the more than 600 freshman slept, an arson fire was started in the 3rd floor lounge of the 6-story freshmen residence hall, Boland Hall. As the fire alarms wailed, most students thought it was just another false fire alarm, like the 30 or more false alarms that sounded the semester before. No one had any idea that there was a real fire, let alone where the fire was or how to get out of harms way.
Roommates Alvaro Llanos and Shawn Simons were amongst the 4 victims who were severely burned and left clinging for life after that fire. Tragically, Shawn and Alvaro lost 3 fellow classmates. The cause would later be revealed a result of arson of two of their other freshman classmates who set a banner on a bulletin board on fire as a drunken prank.
Join us Wednesday night to hear their story of survival, perseverance, inspiration, hope, courage and friendship. They inspire students and professionals to know that although life has many obstacles, you can overcome them by drawing strength, knowledge and motivation from those around you.
