    President’s Message:

HAPPY HOLIDAYS! I wish you all the best of the season and happiness, health and many successes in the New Year! I hope you’ll be highly visible during the holidays reminding your communities to be safe. Ladder safety, electrical hazards, trees, candles and fireplaces are all timely topics as citizens “deck-the-halls”. It’s also a good time to get the word out about age-appropriate toys and reminders about bike and sports helmets and other safety gear. On-the-road safety is important as the holidays bring out the worst in drivers who are more likely to be driving fatigued, stressed and perhaps with a drink or two under their belts. Reminders about seatbelts, child passenger restraints, courtesy behind the wheel and designated drivers are always timely.

    President’s Message:

BACK TO SCHOOL! WOO-HOO! LET’S SEE WHAT WE CAN CONTRIBUTE TO A SAFE AND HEALTHY LEARNING ENVIRONMENT. Kids and parents are generally pretty happy to see school become the hub of activity after a summer of “I don’t have anything to do”. School isn’t just about academics it’s about health, fitness, friendship and citizenship. For schools to work as they should they must be safe havens where kids know they have grown-ups they can trust and parents are confident that they are leaving their children in good and caring hands.

Thank you all for the service you provide to your communities. A special thanks to those who volunteer and the families that support them. I know you all work hard but I’d especially like to thank those who volunteer their time, whether you work outside the fire service to pay your bills and donate time to teach or work suppression or EMS for your department or whether you are full-time fire service donating time to perform good deeds outside your employment or job description…Helmets Off to You!

    President’s Message:

Happy Holidays, hope this finds you in good health and happy. I don’t know about you but we’re more into community service than education this time of year. We will likely provide food to 100 or more families and toys to more than 250 children. I’m a bit worried knowing the economy is likely to bring out more families in need and bring in fewer donations than in the past. It’s going to be awkward this year, considering we’ll likely be delivery to families who’ve donated in the past.

  • AFBEA Educator Summer 2009

     President’s Message:

Greetings friends and “family”! What a crazy world; the economy is beating us up and our departments, communities and kids are suffering as budget cuts take their toll on “unessential” services. I am saddened as I get emails daily from friends whose prevention budgets are being slashed. I’m heartened too, when I hear about those departments and agency who are finding alternative ways to spread the word of safety.
